“I come from a family of immigrants who struggle with their day to day jobs. My mom worked from dawn to dusk in the sewing factories since we arrived in this country. My father toiled in construction almost every day and rarely took of a weekend. No one in my extended family had gone to college before and my parent’s education stopped at high school. I was the oldest in my family, and an immigrant, for that matter. I knew the road to college would be hard and I was ready to apply but didn’t know where to begin or what to do.
